Johannes believes, basically, that stray background radiation from nuclear plants and atomic testing is causing the atmosphere to overheat and escape the earth.
Any number of people have patiently done numbers and explained physics principles for him, over and over and over again. Others have simply pointed out that the concept is similar to a theory that peeing in the ocean causes tsunamis, but it's done little good. The theory seems to be hardwired into him.
