As moderator of Space I have to make decisions on such posts- I do not claim to know enough science to always make the decision that it is BS or not- but I can make that call easily in some cases- in the case of Johanne's garbage I could make that call when I was 12.
I have been bitched at for attacking those that espouse pseudoscience- "why are you so mean to harmless fools?" is the tone of the questioning I usually get... I do not see these fools as 'harmless'... they pervert the facts and the scientific method- they usually are trying to spread fear against science and its product.
We live in an era where the populace NEEDS to understand the scientific issues if we are to survive... We have people terrified about nuclear power because they don't know the facts... we have idiots dismissing global warming because they had the coldest winter in 70 years...
Hell right now there is a show on the Sci-Fi channel about scientists creating a 'Black-Hole' that eats Missouri...
The people that spout pseudoscience do not just fear science and reason, they HATE it... They feel it is unfair that those that study reality DARE to interfere with their fantasies...
Tough Luck- reality wins every time...
