If so, this dream explains to you a sense of personal responsibility for the safety of the voting machine, it's tampering by a "rival" and your subsequent feelings of frustration and despair that put you on the road to isolation and helplessness. The overgrown parking lots, the darkness, your shabby clothes, the deserted train station and the ride to nowhere are symbolic of what you perceive as a traveller after the failure of the voting machine (and perhaps the whole electoral system), for which you feel personally responsible. Seeing "The Boss" in all his colorful tacky clothes and presentation leads me to believe that all of this is how you view your politcal landscape.

That you finally saw the safety of the city lights and turned around... means you are shunning civilization. Just the fact you were always checking for your wallet, keys and passport is what gives YOU that personal sense of safety. It's the only thing you could relate to.
