The people dying overseas volunteered to put their "butts" on the line. At this point in time, a large number of them have either enlisted or re-enlisted under wartime conditions.

The people who die in terror attacks on our own soil did not volunteer.

This distinction, like so many others, may elude you, but it's there. The talking points generated during Vietnam and the draft don't apply any more, but I notice they keep popping up anyway.
