Until the giant one-eyed octopus made of seaweed attacks!
I always thought the flying subs were seriously cool.
People may laugh at the SF TV series of the late 1960s and try to "update"
them today (why don't we just update all those really dated political and social
jokes on Laugh-In, while we're at it), but they reflected the sense of exploration
and adventure in space and the sea, and somehow - like the comic books -
they weren't quite as dark and often cynical as the programs there are now,
even with all their fancy FX and million dollar budgets.
And they were in black-and-white on our TVs with no remotes - and we
liked it that way!
