There is no other life in the Universe beyond Earth...

... and humanity is the ultimate peak of cosmic intelligence and culture.

There. Everybody happy now?

Might as well just open a six-pack, sit back and watch overpaid jocks play
on ESPN, and wait for the terrorists to nuke us all into dust, or worse, a
theocracy.

The real kicker - the larger Universe doesn't give two figs about what we
think or do, or if we all disappear tomorrow.

"[Regarding a nuclear war that might wipe out life on Earth]...this might be a
big thing for the solar system, but it would still be an insignificant matter as
far as the universe as a whole is concerned." - Chairman Mao
