re: sausage
About 10 years ago we came off of a climb of Kilimanjaro starved for fat. It had been 7 days of hard work, on the route we took, and limited rations.
Got to a hotel in Arusha late in the evening, and there was a grill open in the basement. Not the most savory place in not the most savory place in the world.
Full of ourselves, invincible, 3 of us ordered sausage. African sausage. The cook grilled it. Under our watchful eyes he seemed to do a good job.
When he finished we asked him to grill it again. He did.
Not quite crispy, we ate it and were very, very happy. And felt a bit proud of ourselves.
I'm not sure I'd recommend it, though.
