Can't help but think.
As "dark matter" and "dark energy" become more defined it will fit someplace understandable but not intuitive. Maybe forces or particles created in other dimensions for impossibly brief periods of time.
And maybe the advances in measuring time will enable experiments and measurements which will shed (visible) light on it.
