I'm fully aware of our voting requirements Tom. So nice of you to look them up. What you obviously didn't look up was the fact that on Indian reservations which take up a considerable amount of land in Arizona, the culture of many of those tribes goes against the showing of ID for any transaction. There is an implied trust of one another and the notion of having to provide documentation to prove who you are is an absurd one. Non-partisan election commissions were greatly concerned many would show up at the polls after their 40 mile truck ride from their remote hogan without a clue that new regulations were in place. How many of them do you think were Republicans?
You should've seen the bizarre ads the Republican Secretary of State put out to inform the masses of the new rules. Instead of stating up front that there were new requirements, they consisted of "humorous" skits completely unrelated to the voting process and, only at the end was there mention of new rules. My guess is most people's remotes were in use during those poorly produced attempts at humor and few ever saw that final message. Oh, and the Secretary of State got some great government financed face time in during those final messages since she's got opposition in the upcoming election.
Legal? We'll see. State Supreme Courts seem to be saying no. Needed? Hardly. Every study I've ever seen has shown voter fraud that would be halted by requiring ID at polls is nearly non-existant. Ethical? Hell no.
