I thought this comment of Tom's was most interesting: "I'm hoping the Democrats can get past the Bush Derangement Syndrome, and realize that this war is a lot older than Bush's administration, and won't go away when he does."
Yes. Exactly the point. And the idea that we could just march in there and force feed our solution on these religious zealots was pure lunacy - the work of a buffoon.
As the article clearly demonstrates, the long term foreign policy consequences of the Iraq war have been bad for America and contrary to the interests of American citizens. This was precisely what I predicted would happen before the war began - that the conflict would not serve our long term national interest. It hasn't.
