The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is widely portrayed here as a continuation
of the wars which have been going on in the region for the last 10,000 years.
The widely repeated saying here in the US is that thet've been fighting for the last 10,000 years.
While there is some truth to this, as defensive walls were excavated at Jericho, ca 8,000 BCE, for practical purposes it is a way people in the US use to avoid looking at what is actually happening there now. Its a way of avoidng looking at the conflicts which have risen since the advent of modern zionism. It is also a way of avoiding looking at christianity's role in Nazi Germany's (and for that matter Europe's) genocide of the Jews.
Children aren't born bigotted, they're taught.
