You've got the lingo down "redeployment" is the new democratspeak for "cut and run"
"We're not pulling out - we're deploying them elsewhere!"
Let me be blunt.
Our troops are there to hold our oil interests. The US was the largest customer of Iraqi oil. We, apparently, were only nation who paid for it.
If the newly formed Iraqi government falls, the oil fields will be the first to be resecured for a new euro-friendly dictator - likely of Sunni/Baathist origins.
Then oil prices WILL shoot up, if the new field owners even choose to sell to us. They will likely sell only to their backers. It is INFINITELY cheaper for the stability of the US economy to use our troops to maintain stability than to let the fields be used against the US by anti-US forces.
I figure no one here has actually read the complete Volcker reports. Which is not surprising considering how the media buried that whole 'revelatory' period after a one day news cycle.
But the bottom line is the world is already engaged in a treacherous, backstabbing resource war - and the US has the most knives in its back. In Africa, in the Middle East, Russia, China, Burma - everywhere. The US is hated. It is despised because it is the big consumer and the big provider. Now Australia is already moving against us with talk of Kyoto 'carbon credits'. Getting stabbed in the back never ends when you are the USA.
Our own good intentions are used against us. US naivete and gullibility is the music that they love to hear. We elevate global technology we lift the 3rd world up by the bootstraps and we conquer disease - and what do we get for it?
We get more populous nations who need more resources than they used to and who despise us all the more.
The Democrat leadership will be briefed before January. They only wanted power and didn't give a damn about the troops anyway. They'll be only too content to leave them there now that they are in power. They'll sing and dance, raise taxes and the minimum wage and appease their base - and because of this we will see foreign interests woo, bribe and pay-off certain democratic members as agitators- because there are trillions of dollars at stake in Iraq and a few PACS, gifts, whores and transfers of Euros are considered a good investment.
So the name of the game will be stall. Bush will keep the forces in there until he leaves and James Baker will be negotiating a deal with our Euro-enemies before he leaves office. Our enemies will likely try to wait until Bush is out and hope for a Kerry-clone - a whore for euros, up to his ears in George Soros backing.
But, because certain interests still owe Bush 41 - and mainly because Bush 41 has particularly good relations & interests with Saudi oil and its dispersement - they WILL deal before Bush 43 is out.
What will be the result? I don't know yet.
Sadly, Democracy will be on the dealing table alongside oil fields and contract monopolies. The Saudis aren't too keen on a Shiite dominated Iraq and will likely move for more Sunni power - which appeals to the euros who were bedtime buddies with Sunnis. The US will compromise and likely offer up a gradual troop reduction and sharing of the fields and contract monopolies for a reduction in attacks on the government and some new "X factor" in Iraq that will appeal to both Saudi-Euro interests.
But that was the blunt version.
The media's "look at all this confusing, senseless sectarian violence...what the bleep is happenin'? - this is all hopeless!" outlook can be found in the major bought off media here, here, here and here and over there too.
