Baby boy Mohammed

The topic is baby names.

If the Belgians, or anyone else, makes the number of baby boys born into a particular religion into an issue of survival, then the little threats will grow up in an atmosphere of hostility.

Re: the Irish in New York: No, they didn't require or expect everyone to become Irish. They only took over the politics of the city as well as the police department, and made it so everyone had to answer to someone who was Irish. A certain amount of graft, other corruption, and organized crime accompanied this takeover, but gradually respectability became important to the outsiders in charge. This happened elsewhere, as well, in spite of the fact that the Irish were depicted in political cartoons as ape-like leprechauns. Eventually, one of them even became President. That's one avenue to assimilation, an avenue that's open to Muslim citizens if they aren't required to stay in their enclaves by unreasonable social restrictions, fear, and economic and political discrimination.

Some of a group will choose to stay separate. I know Italian families who still live in Italian neighborhoods and whose grandparents still speak little or no English. I don't mistake them for Mafiosi because they are Italian.

Have mercy on Baby Boy Mohammed. He was born a baby, not a diapered terrorist. If he's treated like a little boy, his chances of growing up to be a compassionate citizen are greatly enhanced.
