re: WWJD

What Jesus Did was wind up being bloodily crucified by his enemies.

Whether you believe he rose again in three days, or his bones are still squirreled away in a secret wardrobe in one of the Pope's dressing rooms, he was hauled off and killed. So much for meekness.

Turning the other cheek usually just gives the other guy a second shot at you.

Jimmy Carter presided over the near-total emasculation of our country, which I could itemize with examples of the rise of Islamism, and the spread of pro-Soviet regimes. The closest he got to getting a clue was when the Soviets tried to eat Afghanistan, and even after decades of Soviet history, he was still surprised.

Note that all this was happening with a Democratic Congress.

Had he gotten a second term, and then been succeeded by Mondale, I would lay heavy odds that the Soviet Union would still be going strong, with much of Central and South America under their wing.

To his credit, he did make some attempts to reign in big government, including being instrumental in deregulating major industries, but in foreign policy, with probably the single exception of the Egypt-Israel treaty, he stunk.
