Why use the Velcro shoes?

At the time it seemed like a good idea, but now in hindsight it’s clear that for the crew in any of the ships at zero G it is much simpler to just float around to get around in the ship. Stumbling around with the Velcro shoes is a waste of time and energy. Of course showing someone floating about in the ship was not an easy special effects task, and wouldn’t look very realistic. It’s easy to tell if someone is hanging from wires. They didn’t have a vomit comet to film the zero G scenes. Ha it’s so much easier to do like Star Trek, and such, to just assume they have artificial gravity.
