just for the record, coupla more inaccuracies:

- the exhaust of the lunar lander causes the lunar dust to billow about as it would in an earth atmosphere. In reality, lunar dust jets out from the point of excitation, and then just flops to the ground. See any of the Apollo moon landing clips (camera strapped to LEM), or for that matter watch any time an astronaut kicks up some dirt on the surface.

- in the subsequent conference on the moon (shirtsleeve environment), Floyd and others energetically stride around as if in Earth gravity - on the moon they'd be bouncing around the walls. (Yeah I know it's a common sci-fi flub)

- the star field moves behind Discovery (this is the classic flub - everyone knows this one)

- the centrifuge housing the living quarters in Discovery rotates far too slowly - to create equivalent Earth gravity, or even say half-g it'd need to spin a lot faster given its radius (yeah I know I'm getting finicky by now)

- there are no advertising billboards along the hyperspace stargate ride.

- All the spacecraft move jerkily, but this is actually due to my 20-year old video copies - I still don't own a DVD player. In fact, when I finally do get one, it will be just to watch Apollo on the Moon - and also to get the digitized version of 2001. I believe it's wonderful ...
