re: I approve of policemen in my town. But they don't control me.

Control as I defined it is FREEING people in repressive nations and letting them make up their own mind.

Naturally, I don't support control in the technical definition of the word.

However, it's painfully apparent the world would be an infinitely better place if there wer half a dozen "United States" working for the good of mankind within it.

And when folks think places like Germany are enlightened, they don't understand the details. The Catholicism integrated into the governmental policy and laws, the sexism in making citizenship available to male German's descendants and not the female's descendants. All these institutionalized policies that date back to middle ages era thinking. And now the socialist East Germans have poisoned the government and policy-making process beyond all imaginings.

The US, poor as it's education system is and all its other troubles, is still more free and has an infinitely better track record in humanitarian efforts, funding freedom and supporting the oppressed.

Sure absolute power corrupts absolutely. But you don't see Iraq added to our territories now do you? That's why the world wants to bring down the new government.

Failure in Iraq is a propaganda victory for the oppressors all over the world who fear NOTHING more than a world where oppressors are picked off by a superpower and their citizens are freed.
