"Before 2003, Iraq was a country that had only small currents of Islamic Fundamentalism and little or no connections with anti-us international terrorist groups."
How could you know this? Do you think the state controlled press would have allow any of this to be reported. Do imagine that CNN was not constrained from reporting any of this. Let's forget the fact that Saddam had publically invited something like 100,000 of these "Islamic Fundamentalism" before the invasion of Iraq.
Let instead focus on say Iraq of 1990, how would you compare this Iraq to Eygpt of 1990 in terms quantity of your "Islamic Fundamentalism".
And Saddam's big dream was to rule the entire middle east [and beyond]- and this was to be achieved through miltary power. Saddam's dream WASN"T to improve the lives of his citizens. Saddam's dream WASN"T to allow Freedom to his citizens.
"Now, it is a revolution-torm country awash in sectarian violence. In Iraq, we have now large numbers of people ripe for recruitment by anti-american and anti-secular terrorist organizations like Al-Qaeda and a government that is heavily influenced by pro-iranian shi'a fundamentalists. (Sadr and company). Even the Kurds are falling under the sway of Iran!"
I am not in the least worried about the Kurds in this regard. And perhaps, as has actually happenned in history, Iran is falling under the sway of the Kurds.
Btw, the Kurds are an economic and social miracle- and it's not unreasonable that this could have a great influence upon Iran. But what would be *completely* unreasonable, is Kurd women wearing tents, and supporting the Islamic fascists.
There are many books you could read that may help you understand this war. "Knowing the Enemy" by Mary Habeck is one. To undestand the general history of region I suggest reading "Islamic Imperialism" by Efraim Karsh. I haven't finished reading "Islamic Imperialism", but so far it is quite informative.
