Didn't the US become more religiously minded during the threat of communism, because of the non believing communist regimes?
Why doesn't the US then become more secular, after the religiously motivated 9/11 attacks?
Europe has had it with religious wars....and we don't follow religions anymore.
Europe has had it with patriotism and we're building a union of countries where only extreme right movements keep raising "patriotic" issues.
Patriotism and religion have a thing in common: very little room for critical thinking.
All those congressmen believing the President when he claimed Saddam had WMDs and therefore voted for the war, are now surely regretting it.
Such is the power of patriotism: who dares questioning it?
But, true enough, inspite of 9/11 and the war in Iraq, the US is still the only superpower in the World. If there is any change, it will have to come from within the US.
