All I know is that if we had followed the leftist foreign policy prescriptions during the last part of the Cold War--stayed out of Vietnam, gone along with all the Soviet arms deals, no U.S. missile defense program, no U.S. military buildup in the 80s, no support of anti-communist rebels in Central or South America, no invasion of places like Grenada...
The world would look a lot different now.
I'm not even including far-left looney ideas like unilateral disarmament, or abandoning Israel. Other than Vietnam, which took place before the devolution of the Democrats into what they are now, the things in that list were Democratic Party positions.
The Left likes to brag about how it was right about everything. Maybe. Fortunately, thanks to Republican victories, they never got the chance to find out. I think we dodged a bullet when Reagan won the election instead of Carter.
Do you really think that we would have won the Cold War under Carter, Mondale, or Dukakis?
