I was trapped on Aconcagua about 7 years ago in 80 MPH winds. At night the mountain would cool, the air would cool, and rush down that hill burying our tents in snow. Sometime in the AM that would change, and the mountain would heat up, the wind would reverse direction to uphill, the snow would melt.
Went on for 4 days during which time we were effectively trapped. No one was going anywhere.
A lot of power in those winds.
I saw a British Army guy loose his sleeping bag. It was rolled up and strapped to his pack, the wind worked the straps loose and away went that bag - straight out horizontally into the void. No bouncing down the hill for that thing.
They were all nice guys, I really enjoyed BSing with them. I'm good, but they're experts. Weren't particulary good citizens. At base camp they crapped near the source of the common water supply instead of the miserable over-full latrine, didn't guy their tents well and a couple of them blew away.
And the trail out of there ran through a gorge along side a river for a while. Getting toward dark the first night I was last in my group, and the trail disappeared into the river. Had to stay where I was overnight, and it was beautiful. I've never seen a sky like that.
In the morning the river had gone down and I found my mates. (We had radios so we were in touch.)
