Maybe the man said nothing at all, and we're just releasing this information to discredit him and his cause by attacking his willingness to embrace martydom and his personal integrity. Or perhaps we are trying to convince his terrorist pals that he has told us everything to throw them into confusion. Or perhaps we want them to think he's told us nothing so they will be lulled into a false sense of security. This is really spy vs spy nonsense here, we haven't a clue as to what's really happening. In fact, even the real players may not have a clue as to what's really going down. It's not like the spooks NEVER get it wrong, is it?

Have you ever seen the famous film clip of Osama, squatting, and firing an AK-47, left-handed? This practically guarantees the empty casings will hit him in the face as he shoots. OBL, besides being a combat veteran and never firing a firearm like that, is also an Arab and would never do anything like handle a weapon with his left hand, even if he were born that way. That image was mirrored so it would look like he was an incompetent warrior who used his unclean hand to do god's work.
