Hail, hail, the ganglias all here.

The truth is always somewhere between the two extremes, which is something the ideologues on both sides just can't seem to get through their acorn-sized reptilian midbrains. Balanced comments like this particular conservative's you have linked to here do more to present their case in a favorable light than the endless and monotonous shrill denials of a million Limbaughs and Coulters and others like them.

He who shouts the loudest has the most to lose when justly contradicted, or eventually exposed. A little bit of concession goes a lot further than arrogance, sarcasm and insult can, and when the time comes for persuasion based on trust, it is the quiet, friendly voice that will be believed, not the I-told-you-so, "take this" bully.

I've stayed away from this US Attorney firing debate because I don't know the facts well enough to comment, and I find educating myself on the issues mind-numbingly boring. My guess is that both parties do it, for purely political reasons, and that they are brutal and cynical about it, justifying their destruction of careers and lives by means of the contempt they hold for their enemies. And it's probably been getting worse and worse, and it is particularly bad when one side or the other holds a majority and the other is incapable of defending itself. I would hesitate defending either side. After all, they are just fucking lawyers.
