The difference between saying someone should be fired and firing them.

Anyone can suggest their boss should be run over by a garbage truck and dragged to the dump. Anyone, anytime, anywhere can suggest a US Attorney should be fired for any reason.

To actually run over your boss with a garbage truck and drag him/her to the dump is different. To actually fire a US Attorney for pursuing criminals is a bit different.

One of the Rights' favorite tactics is the "old news" idea. Mention Abu Ghraib twice, and it's "old news". The problem isn't the event or occurence, it's the reporting of it even once, and after that it's "old news" and the treacherous and treasonous news media are simply intent on dragging the Good Name of the United States of America through the mud in furtherance of their own left-wing agenda.

However, for example, Clinton never becomes "old news", and is responsible for every difficulty the Bush Administration has to this day. How it is Clinton could be accountable for everything and Bush for nothing, how it was Clinton was and is one powerful president and Bush is one powerless president is one of those mysteries of the Universe which is taken on faith by the True Believers. But never "old news".
