Cooling means a downward trend

A lot of tap dancing in your latest post.

You said Mann doesn't acknowledge a LIA, and when I showed proof he does, you denied the LIA was in the MBH '98 graph.

The graph in fact shows cooling relative to the pre-LIA, so the closest you've got to any point at all is that the graph doesn't show dramatic cooling, and I've already given Mann's reason for why that's the case - his assertion that it's a regional effect.

This is getting repetitive.

As for near highest of any interglacial, I didn't get that from MBH '98 and never claimed to. This graph:

Shows only the peaks of most previous interglacials being warmer (glacial period defined as >3C colder than current temp).

Current temps aren't depicted on the graph due to time scale compression, btw, but would peg in around 0.4C.

We'll be pretty lucky if the current warming peaks at 3C, and see how little time in any previous interglacial had been that warm, and even then the warming occurred over a time frame 1-2 orders of magnitude slower (1k to 10k years).
