Out in the woods alone

I can see why you'd fear a couple of ne'er-do-wells, than wild animals.
Being alone in the wilds must be quite some experience. I think of "Deliverance", there are country boys everywhere.

Personal safety is an issue anywhere one goes.
Last week I found out about a swimming hole on the Rocky Broad River in the middle of nowhere and got directions. Bounded down the cliff along a narrow path, got to river, realized I was all alone (had told no one where I was going) and came upon some major rocks with a burned out campfire, a pillow and a man's pair of jeans. Couldn't get out of there fast enough. Silly girl.

Although I have hiked alone up here on previous years, I won't do it anymore. Some people have recommended ammonia water in a spray bottle for stray dogs. I think we went through the pepper spray for bears. Timing would be everything.

When do you leave and how long is your hike? I think if you can get on the internet and text on your new phone, you could possibly drop in here and keep us up to date. Every thought of setting up a website and downloading things as you go along like my friend Thor did?
I wish you all the best.
