Fanatics like Gore 'believe' in their crusade. That damages legit scientific inquiry and polarizes thought. Gore is probably right in that there is an anthropogenic component to climate change. Of course his religion cannot countenance a natural component of any consequence.
Scroll down here to see how 'naturally' Earth's climate has varied over geologic timeframes. Note that we are presently coming out of a below normal cool period. This should not be a surprise to anyone, but sadly, it is.
Regardless, it's prudent for us to minimize our footprint on the planet. We need alternatives to burning fossil fuels, for many good reasons. What we don't need is the rampant hysteria that most folks I know believe that their beachfront property will be under water in a few years because they watched some polemic movie by a guy who never took much science. He's got a nerve lambasting scientists in an attempt to control their conclusions and statements.
