He wasn't "lambasting scientists in an attempt to control their conclusions and statements." He was criticizing them for not earlier reaching the consensus THEY HAVE NOW REACHED.

You can pretend the few oil company funded denialists are important, or you can act like that pin head gbaike and claim there is no evidence for global warming, but the scientific consensus is there.

As for a "religion," you sound like the creationists who claim evolution is a religion and not science. What next, is gravity a religion?
