The civilian death toll in Iraq dropped 18 percent in June. I won't place a lot of significance in this unless I see a multi-month trend, but it has happened. Other statistics have also been encouraging.
If by "mounting" you mean the raw numbers keep going up, that's fairly obvious, unless someone starts raising the dead.
