Nice talking point

You are making a huge and erroneous assumption that people calling for programs like socialized medicine and more national support for education want to give power to the government. The federal government, by adding such complexity and micromanagement of these functions, has already seized incredible amounts of power and forged deep financial ties with powerful industries.

In many ways, taking the bold step of let's say creating a completely socialized medical system where insurance companies are completely out of the picture (ignoring the obvious problems in getting there). That removes huge amounts of red tape that the government is already involved in. Do you have any idea how many people are the government's employ that deal with the complete mess of medical coding and insurance payments? Millions, and most of them are spinning their wheels sucking the system dry for money and resources over overly-complex systems that rival our out of control income taxing laws.

When we want the government to support education it isn't in the form the current administration is pushing with NCLB micro-managing the hard working professionals who for years have had the autonomy to actually teach to kids as individuals. Now it's all formula driven - teaching to tests. Guess what kind of federal bureaocracy is being setup to ensure compliance from all those school districts around the country. Look into the "Reading First" program that's being forced on those districts and let me know what you find about ties to the businesses pushing it. No Tom. All we want is federal financial assistance so that every child regardless of how backward their state might be in creating equitable schools is ensured the same access.

You as always have taken complex issues of gray and managed to turn them into black and white and you're trying to sell yourself as a critical thinker? Application rejected.
