Actually, it was a joke.
I frequent a lot of blogs, on all sides of the political spectrum, and with a few exceptions (and most make no secret of it), they are in it for the sheer love of it.
There is no conspiracy of paid commenters poisoning websites out there. I suspect that bloggers and other writers who feel this is happening to them have a very overinflated idea of their own influence.
