I think people need to get over having to "look" at ground-based wind towers. I have no problem with these, and down in Mojave I think they made the hills look more interesting.
We are already used to high-tension towers all over the landscape, and somehow we manage. I'd like to see someone look into designing these towers to also mount wind generators. As long as they're there in the first place.
Unfortunately, I think there's technical and electrical problems with just pumping the power right into the high tension lines (the neatest solution), but I haven't researched it.
