Timing of the attack on Iran. Follow the aircraft carriers.

In port. There is a high percentage of them, more than normal, in port.

I got curious about where the aircraft carriers might be, as their deployment seems to presage an attack on a country. Seems like some blogger has been curious, too.

"It is very clear that many Navy flattops have spent much of 2007 undergoing overhauls in preparation for extended stays at sea. Many are still in port, completing their outfitting. One fact is absolutely certain: that by early 2008, the United States Navy will have six or more aircraft carriers available for immediate deployment to the Persian Gulf, and, if needed, will have the capacity to keep a powerful carrier force stationed there throughout the year. With so many carriers simultaneously available for deployment to the Persian Gulf, the United States will have a significant window of opportunity to choose when to launch an attack on Iran, will have enormous bombing capacity when they attack, and, if necessary, the capacity to stay on station and sustain air strikes for months.

"Vice president Dick Cheney is rumored to be the driving force behind a preemptive strike against Iran, personally committed to 'taking out' Iran before he and President Bush leave office. The media campaign to garner support for a preemptive attack on Iran is being fine-tuned. Initially, the reason presented to the American people for an attack on Iran was the threat of Iran developing a nuclear bomb. More recently, the administration has begun claiming that Iran is the force behind insurgent activity in Iraq. They're searching for an excuse to attack. A few weeks into the new year, they'll have all the carrier firepower they think they'll need."
