I made my point.

My personal and economic liberties have already been stifled in dozens of different ways by those who know better than I do how to live my life. I'm still waiting for the fascists to break my door down, or even send me a stern postcard about my political opinions.

Maybe it's like explaining "wet" to a fish.

Maybe you don't see any reason why transfats shouldn't be outlawed, why smoking shouldn't be illegal in outdoor parks, or why my medical care shouldn't be a state monopoly. Why shouldn't the state control what car I drive, what toilets I can use, or if I run a business, pretty much every damn thing I do?

If gun control isn't an issue right now, God knows it isn't for lack of liberals trying year after year. Most of the noise is happening now at state and local levels, after Democrats at the national level realized that not as many people think like they do on the issue as they thought.

As far as health care and lifestyle control, spend some time reading the news from Britain. Here's a recent example.
