I watched a good movie tonight

It was very "current" as it's theme rode along the lines of what we're discussing so I think it's VERY pertinent here. You may want to go rent it if you haven't seen it yet.

It's George Clooney's film "Good Night and Good Luck" which is a period piece on Edward R Murrow's brave reporting at CBS in the early 1950's during the McCarthy hearings. It moves you right into the newsroom with all the reporters, and highlights the fear and the fight (not much different than in here I might add). It also brings into the spotlight the owner of CBS, his sponsors and the pressure he's under to keep his show running.

You celebrate each and every fight they win and you see thye progression of McCarthy's jingoism because they used nothing but newsreel tapes from that period. The whole film was also shot in black and white. Even though that was more than 50 years ago here in America; there is very little in that film that doesn't hold true today.
