The angry young man can be a force for good, but he has to convince others to go along with his plan, because a man alone can accomplish nothing. Perhaps it is only in the sciences or the arts where the maverick can lay a seed of an idea that will be accepted down the line and flower on its own. But we are social animals, we do things in organized groups, and persuasion and compromise and negotiation also play a role when we are trying to do things colectively. No business has just one employee. Think of the Continental Congress. It was filled with angry men arguing with each other, often for the most self-serving of motives. If some strong arm dictator had taken over, we might have gotten our independence, but never our freedom.
