I agree.
But, there were consequence following the making and the use of nuclear weapons. One of most serious consequent was the perceived need by some involved in making the nuclear weapon to give this technology to Russia.
Though it's fortunate that so far only twice nuclear weapons have been used in war. And the Germany or Japan of 1940's was probably best "first" use of this weapon. For instance using it first as tactical weapon in the Korea war would have shaped future "acceptable" use of this weapon in a bad way.
Or a different aspect, better to use a nuclear weapon to end a war than use it in the beginning or middle of one.
