We had another in the works scheduled to be dropped on the following Thursday.

Tuesday night the Japanese made overtures requesting clarification of the postwar status of the Emperor. Realizing that was the only hangup to surrender, Truman put off the dropping of that one. ("The Rising Sun", vol. 5, John Tolland)

And the rest is history.
