How in the world can you do background checks on Syrians in a timely matter?
The same way you do for other refugees from wartorn areas... and we would have the luxury of actually doing the checks- they aren't really getting that option in Europe due to the massive influx...

This is what is in the best interest of the American people. People feel we should not engage our troops in Syria. Okay…so we let them come to us?

It really doesn't matter - Some were French or Belgian nationals... shall we not allow the French in our country? How about French Muslims? How broad a brush can we paint folks with before you have some qualms?
The VAST majority of the refugees are running AWAY FROM ISIS, and the violence in their country... And quite obviously ISIS would love for the west to refuse refuge to them - it will reinforce the message that the west is the enemy of all muslims, and will increase the numbers of desperate people for them to recruit.
