Was doing pretty well on that cycle, but I hit something under the water working a sound card driver problem. I have no idea what happened, but the install got totally corrupted. Re-format, try again.

I'm losing nothing but time, but this takes the patience of a Navajo sand painter with allergy sneezing attacks.
