"Healthy emotions" are the catchphrase in your analysis. Who draws the line as to what constitutes such? While I may look at the grieving hair pullers and deem such very unhealthy, others would deem it healthy. The hate which a suicide bomber must feel and embrace before they press the trigger on their bomb is "healthy and normal" to them and their family and peers, yet to someone else is completely irrational and "unhealthy" to the extreme.
Some folks want to live in total denial about relative states of human development - which leads to the blanket whitewashing of retrograde cultures and mass murder under the catchphrase of "empathy."
Sure, such "empathy" is a step above the previous historic reaction to slaughter or enslave such primitive cultures, but it's still not the most intelligent response, because it now replaces condemnation & disdain with acceptance and a false equality with western thought which it does not warrant or deserve.
That fine balance of recognizing something as retrograde and not wanting to simply destroy it - but want to see it evolve is the balance many miss.
