re: the scared center

Huckabee has even more charisma in my opinion than Obama. I think he's the biggest shyster in the race though. His claims to be for the little guy are falsified by his tax scheme which would shift the burden to them. Romney is probably the best manager, but I disagree with him on many of his current stances and that he's changed them so recently. McCain would have lost my vote on his cantankerousness during the debates if I hadn't seen him really working in the senate to bet bipartisan legislation passed. I also think it is primarily a response to Romney's smugness. I wrote in McCain in 2000 and I will probably vote for him this time.

I think Obama sounds great, but think he's quite possibly just as full of BS as Huckabee or Bush junior on being a uniter. Being right on the war after learning there were no wmd in Iraq does not make his basis for being against it right when nearly everyone thought there were wmd. Is it his belief that people like Saddam should be allowed to have WMD or did he have some basis I've never heard stated for believing differently from everyone else?

I had laughed at the idea of voting for Hillary when she carpet bagged to New York, but admired her honesty in debunking all the Bush lied nonsense and her fairly hawkish stance on Iraq. At one point I probably would have voted for her if another right winger got the Republication nomination. As she's run though she has become Democratically politically correct denying that the surge is working and pushing for a withdrawal. I'd be willing to consider such myself if the surge hadn't worked, but it's political BS to nit pick that the iraqi's haven't done their part when it is clear some of the Iraqi's are picking up part of the load.

Mark
