Oh No! A contradiction! Ya got me now! AAAAAArgh!

Legitimate gun owners would have no trouble buying or trading sporting arms, self-defense weapons, or collectibles through normal retail channels or private sale, providing gun laws and licencing were systematized and streamlined a bit. But these are not the weapons of choice for criminals.

Criminals, insisting on buying contraband weapons like concealable handguns, assault rifles and fully automatic weapons, would have to go on the contraband market and pay higher prices and take greater risks to find these guns. As it is now, they can either steal them from their legal owners or go to the local gunshop and buy them. Sure, they will still be available, but they won't be so common and easily acquired.

Criminal gun use is what I am mostly concerned about. As far as the occasional wacko who shoots up a public place for no reason, I don't think much can be done about them at all. Perhaps I did not make these points clear enough in my earlier posts.

What alternatives do we have? To do nothing at all? Or to try and institute a draconian or piecemeal gun law that would trample over everyone's rights and probably not work anyway.
