The truth is Rumsfeld secured Iraq, defeated Saddam and caught him with exactly the less is more approach. Things were going swimmingly for awhile and then we had external interference from Europe.

No one was particularly prepared for our enemies to be receiving western aid and intelligence, thus the casualties, successful propaganda war throughout the world and the rest.

The world's current attitudes about Iraq are the byproduct of successful propaganda by masses willing and wanting to believe.

Like watching the assisted suicide thread - way too many folks here are following that exact same mentality on a national level. They want to die and want someone else to pull the trigger for them.

The US haters, stuck in dead-end jobs, suffering from a host of mental illnesses and doped on pharmaceuticals morning, noon and night want to see the US die as a superpower and hope the third world and the "noble savages" will pull the trigger. It's a form of a massive escape mechanism to "punish" America and "the rich" for whom life seems to have gone swimmingly while they swim in dung. Many liberals buy into this with the same fervor they bought into the UN one world government idea. Totally clueless.

They are only too happy to oblige. Like the drunken Romans stupefied out of their minds, or the ones suffering under the "oppression" of a corrupt senate, they had no idea that inviting the overturn of the empire was not going to turn out as just an interesting diversion for their doped minds or as a way of draining others cups into one's own.

The ignorance in America is growing exponentially. The west is drowning in false delusions of "how life would be if only..." and are utterly ignorant of the reality in the rest of the world. Because of their isolation and limited intellectual development they can be led around like the children of Hamelin, by any fool with pipe and a song. Anyone offering an attractive escape mechanism.

But in the end all the children die - swallowed up by a mountain (or drown in a river take your pick). All except the lame child who couldn't keep up with the exuberant pipe chasers. The world is filled with pipers who feel they have been shortshrifted by America or the west and will gladly kill you and your family without blinking an eye.

Watching the mental equivalent of children follow all these "noble global pipers" is enough to turn one's stomach.

One day all of the far left will get wish fulfillment and be blown up into atomic ashes...triggered by some noble savage uncorrupted by western capitalism.
