I'm trying to get past Democrat and Republican somewhat. The basic principles of limited government should be applied regardless of party.
If I vote Republican, it's because historically they've been less likely to slap collectivism on this country than the Democrats are. In recent years, though, not so much.
What's ironic about the post you just made is that you describe reason after reason why the government isn't the best way to do things, but refuse to abandon your position.
If you think the military-industrial complex is a dog's breakfast, wait until you see the medical-industrial complex, with giant medical corporations, fed solely by government funds, occupying the same niches with the same powerful lobbies as defense contractors.
The private sector excels at solving problems and giving people what they need. The reason this is opposed by politicians is that there's no power to be had in private solutions. It's that simple.
