Its what converted me from a science/SF/cultural historian HabZone poster who enjoyed writing and reading good prose into a culture warrior and counter-propagandist. It seems I couldn't say anything without someone finding something politically incorrect about it, and suddenly feeling compelled to defend myself, to not let the bullies push us (actually,me) around any more. And even when I made an effort to avoid getting involved, it seemed like I was always being deliberately provoked, someone always wanted to start a fight, and I wasn't about to back down. A lot of it was sheer ego, too, schoolyard posturing. Its hard not to fight back when you've been sucker-punched. And from there, its only a short hop to bitch-slapping anyone who dares make eye-contact with you.
In short, I've been catching myself becoming everything that I hated about the Zone. Well, you're absolutely right. I apologize if I've been an asshole, and I will try and do better.
