That was an incredibly honest post. And an appreciated bit of self-reflection that actually doesn't require your apology.
Arguing politics is like a game and it's addicting. It's a challenge to defend yourself and if you don't accomplish that, you'll look like a fool, whether you admit it or not.
Sometimes we jump when the gauntlet drops, other times we back up a minute and fact check before engaging. Believe it or not on that rare occasion I've found myself "incorrect". I try not to rub it in when it's the other way around.
I learned grammar here at the zone. Never had any need to write until I found this place (and I know it shows). I love learning from those here who are talented writers. Actually most of the members qualify.
I think if you hang with like-minded people all the time and you never have your beliefs challenged, your brain turns flabby. Life is dynamic. Ideologies seldom are unless one has the strength to examine one's own.
