After finding out what the UN and Europe were doing to the Iraqis, I want to see Iraq become the new South Korea. Why leave these folks to the same looters who subsidized their oppression? The native Iraqi Kurdish peoples asked for our help to remove Saddam and got it. You can guess where our big base is/will be... ;-)
If Iraq was not being exploited by tyrant loving looters with munitions factories and arms to sell, May 1, 2003 would have been a realistic exit date. The former Euro looters didn't like our quick victory and the way reconstruction contracts were doled out, so they decided to subsidize an insurgency, hoping we would leave when enough French manufactured, Iranian delivered munitions blew up our soldiers and the new government folks. We waited them out and when conservative Sarkozy takes office in France - SURPRISE - the insurgency peters out and French-US relations are back in business. The Former French President was up to his eyeballs in Iraq corruption and an unrepentant dealer of death.
So...
...we'll ride it out until every US manufacturer has several good electric cars for sale and every roof from California to Colorado has a solar power panel on it. We'll ride it out until we spur Islam's reformation. Christianity's reformation took well over two centuries. Islam's might take even longer, or less if today's communication channels speeds things up a bit.
So 3053 is a more realistic figure.
;-)
Current Events » in reply to "bring the rest of the troops home, before May 1st" was right on the money?
More like 3053.
