Wow! The magical Phi! Wow! Its the power of Phi!

My god. You don't even know how to read mathematics.

The Author is merely referring to Golden Spirals, Logarithmic Spirals and their ultimate relationship with the golden ratio. There is nothing metaphysical about this, no more than Pi or e or planks constant is metaphysical.

Frankly, this is pedestrian. It no more points to an 'infinite universe' than irrational numbers do.

And, beyond that, you misunderstand the basic relationship between phenomena of the universe and mathematics. You seem to have this magical concept where the name/description of the the thing is the thing. Thats ass backwards.

Mathematics often deals with infinity when describing the universe around us, or when deriving knowledge about the universe. Thats nothing special, there is nothing magical about an infinity- its just another ordinal and some infinities are provably more infinite than others. All of this is old hat.

But the workings of mathematics is not the universe.

One of the people who pushed Fractal geometry once gave a famous lecture in which he used recursive structure to present a (very informal) proof that the Coastline of Britain is infinite. It was a clever re-casting of Zeno's paradox in terms of recursive structure ( similar in some ways to golden spirals) and fractal geometry.

However, because the mathematics zooms off to infinity (and an infinity of infinities!) all over the place does not mean that the coast line of Britain is infinite. Its finite and measurable.

Just because golden spirals appear in the geometries of many living structures (as do fractals, strange attractors, recursive structures, infinite series) does not mean that those mathematical descriptive notions show anything about the nature of the macroscopic universe.

Your concept of mathematics is about as deep and meaningful as your understanding of Science or logic.
