No one will ever be able to prove the universe is either finite or infinite to everyone's satisfaction.
The fact that growth in the plant kingdom relies on irrational numbers is for me a dead giveaway that the universe is infinite and continues perpetually without ending, constantly changing form. In my opinion a finite universe should have neat finite rates of growth, reproduction and neat termination points. The closer one looks at the universe we see beginning and endings are arbitrary illusions. The chicken or egg solution is that the newly changed egg came first from another species of similar animal whose DNA was altered. Evolution of energy via realignment of atoms and molecules with no official beginning of anything and no official ending.
That you don't agree with my views is perfectly fine with me. We all have different perspectives, opinions and collected data from which to base our understandings. That you try to paint my views of the nature of the universe as somehow "fraudulent" indicates it might be you that needs to consult the dictionary because as Inigo Montoya said:
"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
They are no more "fraudulent" than those who believe in string theory, the big bang, the big crunch, heaven, hell or the concept of nothingness. And my opinions in the matter are based on real and measurable scientific observations, unlike the latter three I just mentioned.
